“Ag gabhail fríd Bhaile an tSratha domh” – a song that Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh put me in the direction of, and since then, I’ve found versions from Kitty Eoghain Eamonn and Jimmy Dinny Ó Gallachóir. This is the version sung by Jimmy Dinny Ó Gallachóir.
lyrics
Bhí mise lá gabhail fríd Bhaile an tSratha bhí madadh agus céad i mo thimpeall,
Bhí Úna is a ladar ann, Bríd is a meadar ann, Tadhg is a bhata bhuí m’ionsaí,
Nuair a chonaic bean an leanna go raibh mise folamh, ba ghéar a rinne sí mo chluimhriú,
Mo hata is mo bhata is mo sheanléine chaite s’gur chuir sí ’na bhaile in mo scoin mé.
Órú, a chailíní an bhaile, go bhfeice mé tart oraibh is gan aon ndeor agaibh a shíogadh,
Ach lán bhur ngoile de scadáin ar an bhord sin atá easca ní thíortha,
Níl aon ndeor uisce bheatha níos déise na Gaillimh sin agus dhá chéad míle,
S’gan a’ ndeor leanna a bheith ar na bealaí ach mise bheith á tharraingt is á líonadh.
Óro spleoid ar an airgead, is é an fear cleasach é, is cuma leis cé aige a mbíonn sé,
Bíonn sé ag na cailleachaí ag bocáil an bharraigh go ndéanfadh sé dubh ar a thaobh ghil,
Char bhfearr leis ag an scafaire a bhréagfadh na cailíní sin an fear chartadh na díge,
S’dá dtéadh sé liomsa go taobh an leaba, bhéarfainnse amharc na dí dó.
Is órú a chailíní, is órú a chailleachaí, d’éirigh an tuile ar Labhrás.

Absolutely sensational - love the generally low-end tones and planxty-esque set up, but most of all the incredible energy of it! Wish more instrumental trad was like this, love the fact that it's recorded live too. Prangman

Absolutely love that deep concertina sound. And the range of expression that Cormac brings out through this instrument, well beyond the intentions of the designers or makers of these instruments. And, feel sorry for his poor bellows and reeds. He has to do a lot of personal repair on them. Cormac's album design and presentation are beautiful works of art as well. See him in concert if you can. You can really feel those bass notes resonate through a hall. balinsky

Hello Aidan, I purchased your new album in April and have enjoyed playing the download. When the it arrived in the post there was no physical CD inside the case. I have been promised a replacement but have still not received anything. I only need the CD - I have the case. Obviously I can create a CD from the download, but that’s not the point. Hope you can help.
Best wishes, Martin D’Arcy
